Best Places to Work: Best Way to Give a Bear Hug

By Susan Keen Flynn

NorthCoast 99: Outreach
Company: KPMG
Location: Cleveland
Number of Employees: 150
What They Do: Member firms worldwide offering audit, tax and advisory services
Why It’s a Great Place to Work: Employees made and donated stuffed bears to children in local hospitals.

Rather than holding holiday parties, all of KPMG’s member firms across the country participated in Operation Holiday Bear Hug last December. With the help of representatives from the Build-A-Bear Workshop, the Cleveland office stuffed, sewed and dressed almost 75 bears then delivered them to children at University Hospitals and MetroHealth. Ninety percent of employees participated.

“KPMG does a lot of great things in the community,” says Janine Solomon, a senior associate in audit who helped organized the event in Cleveland. “It’s good to get out there and know you’re making a difference.”
