Indian IT giant, Infosys Ltd. has recently inked an authoritative agreement to acquire BASE life science, a Denmark-based firm that offers specialized management consulting services in the life sciences industry for around €110 million (about $111 million).

This acquisition is expected to be finalized during the second quarter of FY 2023.

As per a statement issued by Infosys, the acquisition indicates its devotion to helping life sciences companies globally in understanding the business value of cloud-first digital platforms and data for moving up clinical trials.

It will also further help to scale drug development, impacting lives positively and achieving better health outcomes.

The life sciences vertical adds 6.6% to the total revenues of Infosys and it grows up by 16.2% yearly in constant currency for the March quarter.

Infosys said that BASE will be bringing domain experts with medical, commercial, clinical regulatory, digital marketing and quality know-how for the company.

BASE, backed by data science specialists team, holds a strong focus on artificial intelligence (AI), data and the capability to bridge and incorporate business logic and technology, driving insights for better health outcomes.

Headquartered in Denmark, BASE consists of around 200 multidisciplinary industry experts across Denmark, the UK, Italy, Germany, France, Switzerland, and a nearshore technology hub in Spain.

As per credible sources, BASE along with Infosys is estimated to expand its portfolio of expertise further into Consumer Health, MedTech, Animal Health, and Genomics segments.

Additionally, BASE has been constantly collaborating with well-known software technology providers in the life sciences industry like IQVIA, Veeva, and Salesforce.
