Spotify, Samsung announce extended collaboration in the year 2022

Swedish audio streaming and media services provider, Spotify has reportedly extended its partnership with South Korean electronics major Samsung. Under this move, the two firms will jointly be working on several cross-platform deployments, including Samsung phones, TVs, watches, earbuds and more. The Spotify app will be pre-installed on Samsung Smart TVs and Galaxy phones.

Notably, the partnership was made to provide a better way for Samsung to compete with its rival tech-giant Apple, following the failure of its music streaming service, Milk Music, in 2016.

Despite running its own company, it directs customers to Spotify, providing deep integrations, membership offers, and discounts.

Recently, Spotify declared the continuation of the pre-install agreement, under which the Samsung Galaxy phone or new Samsung Smart TV users will get the Spotify app installed on the device.

Earlier, Samsung and Spotify offered pre-installation in various devices, including Galaxy Fold, Galaxy S10, S10+, S10e, and S10 5G, among other Galaxy A devices.

As part of the deal, new Spotify users will be able to access Spotify Premium for free for three months.

Apart from this, Android device users of Samsung will be provided an option for playing Spotify Group Sessions on Google Meet during video calls.

Meanwhile, the users of Galaxy Watch5 Pro can use Google Assistant and Spotify on WearOS, and Galaxy Buds2 Pro will be facilitated with Spotify Tap, allowing users to play a song when they tap and hold.

Furthermore, this collaboration between Spotify and Samsung has aided users to shift between devices and continue to listen to a Spotify song or podcast.

It has proven beneficial for both the firms as it has aided Spotify in catering to more audiences and Samsung as customers continue to use its devices.
