There are also many children and young people among the refugees from Ukraine. The teachers association is now demanding more support from the state for integration into the German school system.
Berlin.
In order to be able to integrate refugee children and young people from the Ukraine into everyday school life, the German Teachers Association is demanding a long-term Concept and help from the federal government.
"Without a massive support package from the federal government the countries will not be able to shoulder this task," said association president Heinz-Peter Meidinger to the editorial network Germany (RND).
In many cases it depends solely on the situation on site whether a child is in a regular class or in its own welcome class, to what extent there are German lessons and what additional human and financial resources are available, Meidinger complained. "These are extremely bad conditions for giving the children who will stay longer in Germany a permanent integration perspective." The Conference of Ministers of Education must create a concept with clear content and make commitments as to how much additional staff and money the schools should receive. (dpa)
